Searching For A Hermit Without Success... By Jia Dao (779–843 Ce)



Under some pine trees I queried a youngster.
He replied his master had gone to pick medicinal herbs,
That he had climbed high above them on the mountain,
The clouds up there so thick he could not see where.


尋隱者不遇 Xun2 yin3 zhe3 bu2 yu4

賈島 Jia3 Dao3

松下問童子 Song1 xia4 wen4 tong2 zi3
言師採藥去 Yan2 shi1 cai3 yao4 qu4
者在此山中 Zhe3 zai4 ci3 shan1 zhong1
雲深不知處 Yun2 shen1 bu4 zhi1 chu4
