Second Chance Poem by Allen Liebenberg

Second Chance

I am sorry for the wrong I did to you
And for making your life so blue
I am sorry for the right I left undid
And the golden opportunity that I through my fingers slid

The shadow of a ring on your finger tell
Of a time when everything still was well,
But all good things certainly come to an end
And hurt steals away our joy around many a bend

I am sorry for all the things I did not say
And all the beauty in life that slipped away
I am sorry for the hole I left in your heart
When without a goodbye I from you part

There were just too much going through my head
When I had to dream about you instead
Now, forever I have to live with regret
And my happiness is caught in sorrows net

But the most of all that I am sorry for
Is when that truck nailed me to the concrete floor
Now I will never know the advance
When your angel heart would offer me a second chance
