Second Death Poem by Rick Elpers

Second Death

'
As we met heaven opened
And it was good
For as we talked our hearts
 Gained us trust
So we fled to new heights
Loved each other without judgement
Follow your heart
As I said you should
Keeping courageous through
All that we both faced
Then soon must you leave
As predestined
So I grieved the first death
Even as we tried to be
We knew
We knew the ultimate future
As no one mourned but me
You slipped away into another's
Arms, the second death.
Yet your heart seems to be mine
You persevere to your expectations
Not owing to the depth
That we created
That you must as God tells me
Know the difference
Then  shall you return
To my heart and to your heart shall I
And only then will we be reunited
To the destiny that was written
Long before you and I were born
Long before time
As God wrote each story
To be lived out for his glory
And to our delight through love.
