Secret Love Poem by Paula Robinson

Secret Love

Rating: 4.5

To be wrapped around you while the shadows darken night
To have your face greet me with the dawning of the light
To feel your tender fingers wind their way across my skin
To make me realise each and every day is worth living

Imagining you loved me, thinking that you cared
Imagining I’d won your love, surprised that I had dared
Imagining that it was true, shocked by the revelation
Imagining you felt the same, loving the sensation

I wonder of it often, the way that it could be
I wonder how you feel about the possibility
I wonder what I’d do and the words that I would say
I wonder if you’d want it if the chance did come your way

I love your last stanza. It is so enlightening and makes me think of the past. We all have secrets that we must not reveal.

This fine poem is tenderly and beautifully written, Paula, detailing what so many of us have had in our lives, a crush or fantasy on another person who is totally unaware of our secret desires. Your poem is very expressive and tasteful, and I liked how you avoided the cliches that so many fall into when writing poems of this nature. It is a poem to be read and savored by the readers, just like we do our own secret fantasies. Carl.
