Secret Love Poem by Oduro Bright Amoh

Secret Love

Is it for fret from friend or fear of foes
Or for the mere joy of knowing no one knows
That you brave the toil of hiding your lover,
And seek warmth beneath a discreet cover?
The one who has a woman under covers
Someday through melancholy means discovers
That love that is kept from prying eyes
Will someday the keeper surely surprise.
I had a sweet lover hidden once
But twice or thrice I was proved a dunce
When she walked into another's arms
I couldn't claim them mine; her charms
For love that thrives in secrecy
Will one day leave in secrecy.
