Secure Ones Need No Bhakti Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Secure Ones Need No Bhakti

The intense emotional attachment
With love of a person to a person
An object or a place is termed Bhakti.
Mad love can be its interpretation.

Hindu shastra quote four major bhakti:
Deiva (God) Bhakti, Guru (seer) Bhakti, Pathi (Husband)
Bhakti and Desa (Nation) Bhakti would be they.
They all are one side love unrequited.

Each one wants someone to cling to with faith.
Bhakti is the process to fulfil this.
It feeds the sense of one's belongingness.
Insecure feelings are thus addressed by it.

God is the safe bet that the most adopt.
Seers alive or dead are the next they get.
Wives in the past had their husbands as gods.
Warriors lay their live in Desh Bhakti.

Have bhakti for God, who needn't in turn.
Have bhakti for Guru, who needn't in turn.
Have bhakti for Pathi, who needn't in turn.
Have bhakti for Desh, which has no response.
