Seeking Love Poem by Pete Rivera

Seeking Love

Well you swore
You wouldn't tell
Anyone
Not a single soul
How I felt

And you left
Without another word
Without a
Care in the world
Makes me think
Did I ever know you?

Apparently not
In your own lie
You were caught
But I am the fool
For it was your love
That I sought

I didn't want to be a burden
Turn around and draw the curtain
Stare at what I see

Were you mine
Were you ever kind?
How long did you lie?
Was it longer than awhile?
Was it?

I don't think I could
Look at your face
Again
Seeing how you
Left me for dead

In the middle of town
I hear cries all round
Now let me
Ask you this
Did you care at all?

Apparently not
For in your own lie
You were caught
But I am the fool
For it was your love
That I sought

Where are you now
Is a visit allowed
Did you ever think of me
After you made
Your choice

Apparently not
I am the fool
For it was your love
That I sought
