Self Imprisoned Poem by Brian Matico

Self Imprisoned

You’re a Clean Cut American Boy
With russet locks and pristine grin
You are kind-gentle and oh so coy
Full of Life and contented to win
Yet something within shows a need
Buried inside kept safe from sight
Fighting forth to finish its deed
To be more than a shadow at night
Innocence hides peccadillo glance
Masked wishes cursorily exposed
Constrained hunger pilfers chance
Seize yourself - remain composed
Stop and think—just look around
Some expressions are just too bold
Better to be safe-secure and sound
After all, you’ve an image to uphold

i really like how this poem develops and the way the different facets of this person are slowly shown. It's an interesting concept and well-executed.
