Selfishness Poem by Heather Cropper

Selfishness

Rating: 2.7

people dont realize this,
there are people out there,
freezing, dying, starving.

though no one seems to care,
all i want to do with my life is,
give all those who need help,
a taste sunlight, warmth,
a home to sleep in.

im one of the most ungrateful people i know,
but somewhere in there,
may be some hope for others,
that really need food.

america, you disgust me,
with all the rich people,
and all the fat people,
who dont even eat everything,
that they had on their plate.

where does that food go?
in the garbage,
when it could go to a hungry child.

why hasnt any of you thought,
that maybe you could be save someones life.

none of you care one bit,
when there is probably a baby,
or a little boy and girl,
crying in their sleep,
praying that they see tomorrow,
with their stomach growling,
none of you care at all.

why dont you try to survive,
in africa or china,
that’s what i thought,
you’re too selfish to even care.

the clothes on your back,
with the warmth of the food,
the comfort of the cozy bed at night,
none of you care at all.

none of you realize,
the world is getting worse,
and it will never progress,
all because of your selfishness.
