Semi-Classical Cchau Dance Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Semi-Classical Cchau Dance

I saw lively
Durga, Lakshmi,
Saraswati,
Kartika, Ganesha,
Brahma, Biswakarma,
Mahishasura,
The lion, the rat,
The owl, the peacock.

The masked artistes
Histrionic, theatrical,
Masked and acrobatic,
Rural and rustic
But performing,
Performing to delight
So charming and lovely,
Spectacular and pleasant

Bring the scenery divine,
Supernatural and celestial,
Mythical and mystical,
So interesting and spectacular
To this earth of men
Rehearsing with the mask
And tales fabulous.
