Sensus Poem by Luke Hobbs

Sensus

another biting word,
another tooth, dead and fallen,
cotton mouth vipers spewing,
venom from fragmented fangs,
while gauze gums stem the tide of blood,
and bile that never breaks the surface,
corporeal fluids follow the path,
of least resistance and downward spirals,
into coils of stagnation,

with a mouth full of holes,
this forced smile soon fades,
was I ever a child,
could I ever grow to be,
doubt bleeds back through time like genocide,
second stains become primary causes,
as each act and scene is threatened,
by shadows waiting in the wing,

pain taught sinews wrench out a name,
a mouth full of iron dreams
of emptiness pregnant with freedom,
as the salt taste drains,
a message remains on the shore,
on these lips,
perception and reality are not the same
