Asif Kamran Dar

Seoul '88 - Poem by Asif Kamran Dar

There was a great deal to be accomplished in Seoul
Dreams to fullfil and to set astage the goal
The world had gathered together as one
To witness the glories of being number one

For some, Seoul was the completion of dreams
As well the failure and entertainment of shames
Happiness in some Sadness in some
They had all gathered together as one

For me, Seoul had dawned a disaster
A memory that couldn't fade any faster
I had ridden the wave only to be washed astray
Felling betrayed, ridiculed, old and grey

Fate's fury had embedded an in-effable scar
Still A shore in this storm existed within Asif Dar.
