Serenity Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

Serenity

Rating: 5.0

In the still velvety ink of night she found me sleeping,

The rustling of the sheets disturbed my sense of impending gloom.

The knot of fear and panic rising in my chest…

Hands clutching clammily to pull the wrinkled sheets over my irrational fears;

Nothing hides them, my dry breath rasps coarsely through clenched jaws

And I hyperventilate.

Insomnia is my friend-I know you well

My heart beats so loudly it muffles the sound of foxes screaming to their mate.

Am I dying? Here comes the dread, the apprehension in my head….

Think straight.., think clear…….exhaustion makes for confusion

Each night, every day this silent curse engulfs me

Anxiety……….

Then I feel a cool…..no…. a calm cocoon

Sheltering me from the rising chaos

Her voice soft, gentle and familiar.. and so known

‘sleep child I am your remedy'…….

Give me your fears …I'm your serenity'

May I classify this magnificent poem as dramatic lyricism? (PS. I may not be able, to fall asleep tonight.)

I am a simplistic writer and struggle sometimes to understand complex pieces of poetry but I do keep trying. Such positive comments from an accomplished writer like yourself, is the overriding inspiration for me to continue writing and storytelling. Thank you so much and sleep tight sweet lady xx

How did you do it? We are enveloped by the words, images that you create, hypnotically follow Your emotions and portrait of intense feelings. A worded magnet that pulls with such strength we can hardly follow. A poetic whirlwind, we are hopelessly and dramatically sucked into, participating fully in feelings and description which become ours too. A truly unique poetic experience. Very, very seldom encountered.

I am truly astounded by your lovely words! Anyone that knows me, really would struggle to recognise me through my writing as a poet.I always try to express what I am feeling or experiencing in an honest and descriptive way that I hope will reach out and connect with the readers hearts.
