Set To Spring Poem by Steven Rodgers

Set To Spring

How scary, how true,
How everything is that is,
Is because of you.
Do you know your gift?
How it is divine,
How you have made me yours,
And in turn you are mine.

Is this a secret scheme?
How will the plot unfold?
How every moment is a gift,
Is there anyone you've told?
What if I don't care?
If the trap was set to spring,
And indeed you've got your prize,
When there is so much you bring.

And still you look at me,
As I stare back at you,
Like this is the first look,
Still feels so brand new.
So I am asking you to hide,
The truth if so it be,
I am asking not a lot from you,
Only give yourself to me.

For in exchange, you will get,
A prize that rivals yours,
A world with no windows,
No barriers, no doors.
Love me and I promise you,
I will always love you too,
Promise me a tender love,
As I will promise you.
