Shadow Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Shadow

Shadow

Sitting alone in a garden;
Feel it like a home,
Share moments of
Happiness, sorrow
Hopes, fears and tears,
With my dear garden,
When lonely or sad,
With some new sorrow,
Turn my footsteps to this garden,
Above shining a clean
Clear, cloudless blue sky,
And a fresh, cool breeze
Touching boughs of trees,
Stirring my tired fancies
To resilient, live and springy,
To see another man beside me,
Eyes, hands and legs look alike,
Another man sitting with me,
How it is, I call my conscience,
In vain to drive it away from me,
It disappears when sun goes down,
Again springing to life
Beneath the rising moon,
This is none other than my shadow,
Up and down with sun and moon,
How can the man leave me alone?
