Where are they? I wonder-
Those figurines of my salvation.
When young, they mesmerized me by their light-
And twinkled in my imagination.
I had no other fanciful flights or whims
Soaring unopposed at such speed,
Each took root in my memory-
And their fancies grew high like reeds.
These days of my sleepless nights
I still attend each-but now I'm aware,
Regarding them all with stiletto-ed eye
As I puzzle, 'I put them where? '
Tonight in my bed where I'm now aged with back bent,
I recall those dreams of yore-
All frozen and slippery soot,
And as I dream on
I wonder
'Where in the world were those dreams put? '
