Shadow Friend Poem by Gulliver Gimble

Shadow Friend

Walk with me my shadow friend.
Its good to see your face again.
How long, how long has it really been?
The months grow and years are ten.

Did you forget to answer my call?
Across the wires that slowly crawl.
Could it be that your life has sprawled?
Scattered paintings on a gallery wall.

Talk with me my shadow friend.
I have so much to say in a letter by pen.
How I miss your suttled grins.
In this race neither one could win.

A heart begans growing and then it is sold.
Nights seem much longer in bitterless cold.
Your face seems distant in pictures I hold.
The dust on these photos are just as old.

So walk with me my shadow friend.
Its so good to see your face again.
I have missed your heart so obscured and thin.
Long is the day when our love begins, again.
