Shadowborn Poem by Sven Rhoads

Shadowborn

Lives are falling through the hourglass
As I stand in the void of time
Disconnected from the loving hand
No longer to be in the heart of mine
The seeds ungrown on the path I walk
With the wind to whisper the only voice
The aisle that leads to a singular beat
I've buried mine, It was my choice

I cannot unsee what I have seen
I cannot erase all that I have felt
You fed me nothing but shadows
For 17 years it has embodied me
I cannot go back from where I came
I play the cards that I've been dealt
Resurrected as the shadowborn
Welded to the darkness that you cant see

When the wanderer must ride solo
Trying to break the enslaving chains
Where the rut has been leaving him hollow
Nothing will stop him, not even pouring rain

No blueprint for this design of life
Only an open sea of unknowing
To embrace the fabric of the night
And push onward to where I'm going
No words to comfort a beaten soul
I will not fail my internal flame
Behind winters eyes they'll never know
The true being that rests behind the name

I cannot take back my solemn oath
I cannot betray this anatomy
I am shadowborn in this world
Thats getting worse and unforgiving
I cannot kneel for the common way
This road is mine for eternity
Pull me from this failing race
Cause breathing doesnt mean you're living
