Shame Poem by Edwina Reizer

Shame

My heart could tell a story
that my lips won't say.
'Cause all the things my heart knows
are locked away.
They're kept in silence
and can't escape.
'Cause how can my lips
talk about rape?
It's much too hurtful
and much too sad.
I can't tell mama.
I can't tell dad.
So my heart will keep it quiet
but my heart will cry.
My lips will keep it quiet
until I die.
