Shame Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Shame

Shame

“Fly away” I told the birds
“Don’t sing today” I begged, tired
“Cover the sun” I asked clouds
“No light for now” not a thread

“And you, the walls, on every side, floor and top…”
I looked at each; on my six sides
“…come and crush…” Then looked around,
“I want to die.”

“It is a shame to bear this name…”
Into mirror
Gazing my eyes, mirror of soul
At me as “Man”, I discovered

Adam, (If he ever has lived a life)
And Eve, his wife with their breed
And Abraham, their declared God
With all the faiths, to him referred

Are, not but shame
Born to these lies
I feel ashamed, I want to die.
Ants, worms and wild, are my friends.

Saw my body, in mind, dreams
Growing big, right after death
Turning black, stinking hell
Worms made their way, and they crawled

Rapes and kidnaps
Mass genocides
Lions telling the history
A tale made by the hunting lads

In name of faith
Or better race
Kidnapped, forced kids were raped and in
Chains and tortured, just for color, I saw slaves
