Shanghai Garden Poem by John Mackinnon

Shanghai Garden

Rating: 4.8

Shanghai Garden 23/8/15

I begged a brolly from the desk
And wandered in the rain
The garden seating beckoned
And the trees called out my name.

'You are welcome, you are welcome'
In unison they cried
'We knew that you would join us
For one today has died.'

'Be seated and don't question
What none can yet explain
Take shelter and take comfort
Know only love remains.'

I placed my brolly near my seat
And photographed the spot
Where Chinese trees could sense my pain
For reasons I knew not.'

Written one week after the picture was taken.
