Poems Come As Pirates

Poems Come as Pirates 5/9/09

Poems come as pirates,
Unexpected.
Suddenly through mist,
Or stormy seas
They appear,
Quite uninvited,
To raise their flag
Upon my tired hull.
Somehow they know
When I am most
Becalmed, or dull,
Or lost.
And by their knowing
I am tossed again,
With care,
Into the whirlpool
Of a world
That still might hear
What buccaneers
Would share.
