Shape Of Love

Shape of Love

We live in a topsy-turvy world
Where sterling wrong is candid right
Man contrives his awesome diabolic plans
In the dead of cold frozen night.

Man yearns for flesh in an age-old manner
Just like tigers lurk for a placid deer
In the edge of dark green jungle
Where benevolent sun doesn’t appear.

Love doesn’t come in untainted form
Beneath the blue sky or under the shade of tree
Squeezing the innermost chamber of heart
Like the vibrant birds unbounded and free.

O love, come like radiant purple sun
That appears in the azure sky
Where endless vastness remains
Very near where sea-gulls fly.

O love, come as fresh as petals of flower
In a garden far away from boisterous crowd,
Pure and profane like morning dew
Secretly, very secretly covered by a shroud.

O love, come like a mackerel in the vast sea
Hiding its bluish back beneath the waves
Avoiding all zigzag and treacherous way,
Safe and secure in oceans secluded caves.

O love, come like a giant mountain
That stands very firm and very fixed
Raising its head high above everything
Where ice and rocks are closely mixed.

O love, don’t come like a treacherous bog,
In a far away secluded wasteland,
To play hide and sick in a prevalent way
With fabulous promise and withered garland.

O love, don’t come like an ugly ominous owl,
Portent and harbinger of melancholic plight,
A sheer object of unending hatred,
Who appears in dark and dark night. Shakil Ahmed.
