She built a world of fantasy
on turrets and stone balconies
with ribbons in her golden hair
she danced in rainbows without care
Her purple heart was free with youth
and bold against the callouse truths
her faith was pixies and dragons
she never felttheir cruel talons
She went beneath blue coral caves
to hear the mermaids sing in waves
and ran through fields of butterfly's
riding on kaleidoscope skies
but when it came for time to play
she locked the door and ran away
Inside the castles of her mind
Where she hid, til the end of time
in cloudless daydreams she was free
to chase new worlds that know one sees
Imagination! So powerful in a child's world- -and even more so in a writer's world. We writers must live our stories as enthusiastically as children live theirs. 10

Children have a world of their own. They like to use their imagination and many play fantasy games where they pretend to be someone in a made- up world. A wonderful poem that captures the joys and wonders of childhood. Beautifully crafted with superb imagery.
