She Doesn't Glow Poem by Raj Dronamraju

She Doesn't Glow

Daylight shreds the overbearing actress
The footsteps stop at an incurious border
Destitute thoroughfare for incomparable numb citizenry
Down the boulevard where the people don't glow

These are not the words of a starving man
Made gaunt and feral by a lack of sustenance
These are the words of an indifferent man
Looking neither forward or backwards
The man who doesn't pulse with life energy
Looking for a woman who doesn't glow

Moving in and out with a photo finish female
I like her drab friend
Who wears a raincoat even though it's not raining
Who becomes one with her surroundings
Who stares at you which brings on the unease of belonging
