She Hates Her Husband But She Loves Her Dog Poem by Francis Duggan

She Hates Her Husband But She Loves Her Dog

Rating: 4.5

I see her often though not every day
Though to me she doesn't have a word to say
On her appearance she seems to take great pride
And her golden retriever is always at her side.

Her dog in passing always wags his tail
To acknowledge me at least he does not fail
For their friendliness golden retrievers are well known
None of his kind dislike towards me have shown.

She and her dog love for each other show
The bond of love and trust between them grow
'Tis true your dog will always be your friend
And stay with you and love you till the end.

Her shoulder length brown hair is flecked with gray
And for one in her early fifties she looks quite okay
In her younger years quite lovely to behold
But she's turned sour on men i have been told.

I know her husband he drinks in the Local pub
He barracks for the Carlton footy club
He loves his drink but he doesn't love his wife
But then again one supposes such is life.

Their only child a daughter is married in a town a three hour drive in a car from here away
She gave birth to her first child a baby boy last May
But the relationship between her own mum and dad
In the past few years has gone from worse to bad

I see her often though not every day
Though to me she doesn't have a word to say
The man she married is in love with his grog
And she hates her husband but she loves her dog.
