She'Ll Be Yours Tomorrow, My Friend Poem by ntuthuko wesley nkwanyana

She'Ll Be Yours Tomorrow, My Friend

I know she'll be yours tomorrow, my friend,
all this courting and solitude tomorrow will end,
though ways may be many, you'll find one to her heart,
and you'll be gone in the morrow but you'll never be apart.
For now the answer 'no' still stands between you,
but we wish for the answer 'yes' to be there as well too,
and more, we wish that her 'no' should be blind,
and her 'yes' have arms to make the two of you bind.
For loving this long can never lead to pain,
trust me I know, your heart will gain,
her heart or respect, or both of these,
cause only then my friend will your heart be at ease.
She'll be yours tomorrow, trust me my friend,
test them against time and these words will still stand.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written for a friend of mine named Qiniso Mdakane who happened to be suffering the insecurities of falling in love but was too tied up in self imposed values to allow himself the opportunity of enjoying the days of his youth.
