She's Forgotten Us Poem by Edwina Reizer

She's Forgotten Us

Forgetting to eat, forgetting to drink
She wasn't the one we knew.
We visited faithfully every week
and saw how she withdrew
from the reality we knew
into her own.
And that to us was the unknown.
It was not here. It was not there.
But to her we know
it was somewhere.
For in her brain
she did not remain.
She'd escaped into a starless night.
