New Year Eve (Written as commanded by the Emperor)
- Shi Qing (Tang Dynasty)
Tonight, The Year ends at midnight,
Tomorrow, the New Year comes into sight.
With the night the cold's going away,
At the fifth watch, Spring is coming to stay.
Joyful spirit in the air a-floating,
The radiant Spring will soon be returning.
None is aware of this yet,
Except peach flow'rs begin blooming in the backyard.
