Shine Song Poem by Nathan Streango

Shine Song

Seven times, I have tried, in seven lives, seven lies I’ve devised,
And I bide, my time, until I cry bring the light in my life,

You scream for some help but there’s nobody else,
Self help is the only method that you’ve ever felt,
And you’re all by yourself face to face with your hell,
In your cell is the only life that you have ever felt,

In this cage, is it staged, day to day in the American way,
I’m a slave, freedom paid, in full with a fool’s grenade,

Freedoms out of sight, chest is feeling sort of tight,
You’ve given up the fight rolling over and you die,
You hide, while the darkness infiltrates you with fright,
And you toss toss turn in the countless sleepless nights

In this pain, what a shame, too young to deserve these flames,
I attain, all the blame, move again to a home that’s the same,

Life will always move on, another day another song,
You’re wrong if you think that the fight is too long,
You belong in the winners circle turn the light on,
Sing a song celebration for the fight that you’ve won

Shine your light, pure white; raise your hands up to the sky,
Open eyes, open mind, when the time comes ready to fly,

God can still save and erase all of your pain,
Jesus took the pain and Jesus took the shame,
In your place on your heart he has written his name,
See the light through the fight sing a song you’re saved,

You’re saved, you’re saved sing him praise,
Sing a new song to celebrate the day,
Rejoice in the light that the Lord has made,
And the Lord won the fight he defeated the grave.
