Shoe Laces Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Shoe Laces

Flesh cut off till their ankles
They march the streets and allies
Their feet erupt blood
But march drowned in shoes.

Feet swimming in blood
They grow gills
They respire
But cannot breathe.

They stroll helter skelter
Not knowing where to stop
Not knowing where their laces lie
They still look mindlessly.

It’s a wonder they volcano blood
Only because they tripped and lost
Their shoe laces.
