Should Have Loved You Better Poem by Eunice Masumbuko

Should Have Loved You Better

Rating: 5.0

Close your eyes and savour the silence
It feels like death, reaching for your soul,
Breathing beautiful threats to a heart ever broken,
A dead beat which no longer means anything,
A dead beat which can no longer be felt.

Close your eyes and savour the silence
It feels like death,
The calm after the storm,
The harsh implications of light words,
Harsh words themselves,
Bitter thoughts, damaging rumours
all gone with one last breath.

Close your eyes and savour the silence
It feels like death,
Brings you closer to God
Who will judge you with righteousness
And love you've never felt,
not the pretence you've forever known.

Close your eyes and savour the silence
It feels like death,
Only memories are left,
and soon enough, they'll be feeling
They should've loved you better.
