Should Love Be Complicated? Poem by Neo Patricia Monamodi

Should Love Be Complicated?

You swore you’ll never leave again
Gravity pulls you and drives you insane
You get thirsty for his laughter
But all you hear is his frown
There’s this tension that makes you crazy

The true one gets hurt either way
Wordless conversations just say it all
Then a few words to assure it is all
You thirst for this laughter that makes it alright
You wish for at least his grin but you get none

Could things be alright?
I mean…could things just be alright?
For how I loved him, I said it honestly
Now all I hear is his loud silence
Why can’t we just love each other?

His silence deafens me but says it all
He ain’t sayin it but he loves the other
How dare he say he loves me!
Wait…how I dare fall for his lies
Or it’s the truth I miss to see?
