Shreds Of Memories Poem by francesca zumbo

Shreds Of Memories

Time moves like the wind
Fast and sharp
Scattering shreds of memories
Into an abstract abyss

The clock ticks like the tips of your fingers
Every rotation is another teardropp falling
Sixty seconds of your hands on my back,
And the salt on your skin escaping.
A lifetime of love left behind me
And resonating deep down inside
Your rhythm still travels soundly
Through my body
Like a vessel underneath the sea
Or a ship set sail, small as a dot on the horizon
Wide as the sky that breaks
And then, at once the sun rips through the land
Creating cracks of light in the shade of the mountains
Surrounding,
Beauty and I are one
And time is an instant
Of your outstretched hand
Enclosed in your palm a locket dangles at your heart
My picture inside,
Shut against the wind.
