Si May Go Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Si (she) may go; Si (she) may go,
Left with no option but to forgo
She had expressed desire earlier,
I termed her as complete liar,

She came with old proposal,
Things were ready for her disposal,
She may be engaged and start packing,
Marriage is best way and has parent’s backing,

“Good, Good” acknowledged with grief,
Shock was not sudden but news brief,
Story was with “if” and shrouded with mystery,
Was not at all going to create history,

She was almost there with me everyday,
Exchange of views with good morning a day,
Face only shown rest veiled and covered,
Only picture in mind and simply remembered,

Wanted me as special friend but with restriction,
Simple talk with no excuses and friction,
It was irritating as I had addiction,
Leading to quarrel and mostly with questions,

She insisted her faith does not permit,
Many things acceptable but most to omit,
Can go to some extent and with limited length,
I was loosing grip and strength,

I was just reduced to a friend,
Saw imminent fall and tragic end,
Message was clear and contents sure,
She was alright but I was unsure,

She wished success and bright future,
Offering few words for sordid failure,
I understood the meaning and clear message,
Nothing was left except offering passage,

I was to remain passive and with dark,
Not to be perturbed with loud dog bark,
Lightening may be more with heavy spark,
Leaving aside oblivion with beginning and start
