Siegfried's Idyll Poem by gershon hepner

Siegfried's Idyll

Rating: 5.0

In England the words “Siegfried’s Idyll”
rhyme, to Wagner’s consternation,
with the words “he was no yidel, ”
an Aryan, Siegfried, not an Asian.

In the States that are United
there’s another rhyme for idyll,
though music cannot be indicted,
and 'idyll' rhymes with 'genocidal'.

This morning as on every Christmas Day the radio plays Siegfried’s Idyll which Wagner composed for Cosima and gave to her one Christmas day in the morning.
