Silence Poem by Oritsemolebi Eric Atie

Silence

Rating: 5.0

My eyes shall see no more
Than I have made it seen,
Nor shall my ears yield to any tongue
That spits out to the wind.
Silent, my lips shall fall,
One atop the other,
Cajoling no breath from my mouth.
Stiff shall my hands be tucked
Beneath its own pit
Enclosed from this slavery of bondage.
Numb, my feet shall lay rest,
Heavy from the chains of a thousand journey.
Alas shall my heart be put to sleep,
Beating no more the drums of its ancestry.
