Silence Poem by Anne Havell

Silence

Sweet feelings for you I could not convey.
You came into my life briefly.
Hardly time to test the attraction which in you
I sensed
But which fear of rejection prevented me
From knowing.
Was it the same with you, I wondered?
“Fear makes cowards of us all, ”
So it is said.
Why was I so afraid?
Unable to overcome inner fears?
One question, once glance might have provoked
A response
Maybe acceptance, perhaps denial.
So what!

I walked the coward’s path
And let you walk away, nothing said
Never knowing only wondering.

I really like this poem. I think we've all been in this position and felt this way at some ppoint in our lives.
