Silent Wonder Poem by Jacqueline Dorantes

Silent Wonder

Rating: 5.0

Is there someone out there for me?
I wonder secretly
Watching the daylight fade to mist,
Another day’s chance I’ve missed.

Searching intensely for the face,
Of the man who will quicken my heart’s pace
But I find no one, no one out there for me,
And so I come home to loneliness and misery.

Dread and fear settles in,
Cutting me like knives on my skin
Wondering if love will ever be for me,
Fearing that I’ll only have the memory.

Watching as my youth ripens softly,
Like a peach upon its tree
Waiting patiently,
For someone out there to pick me.
