Similarities Poem by soren Barrett

Similarities

Rating: 5.0

In the primordial advent of the eons
Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu melt into the residual of the present day trinity
And out of Eden's greenhouse sprouts the Bodhi tree
Baal points in shame to the sacrificial alter of Abraham
While Noah's flood, a cover of Gilgamesh a Sumerian, tops the charts for forty days.
At this event, Xipe Totec, wearing Jacobs coat in all its gory splendor,
Passes Osiris' reed basket, down the Nile, to the infant prodigy Moses
Here, on Mt. Sinai, the napalm of Prometheus sets a bush ablaze
Xilonen, the hairy one, of beheaded corn, is served on the platter of John the Baptist
Durga, astride a lion, sees in the mirror of metaphor, mother Mary and her son
While Ra, Horus, Attis, Mithra and Jesus partake in parthenogenesis
In the empty pot of the Taoists they turn holy water into the wine of Bacchus
While from the ashes of the Phoenix, Christ raises in the fire of the holy spirit
Here the king of the woods fights his final battle under the golden bough
