Simple Gestures Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua - Amopho

Simple Gestures

To enliven my dispirited soul
To brighten my countenance
To make my heart sing again
This sustaining lift you give
This surging wind beneath
The downhearted yearning
To mount their feeble wings
And to soar to new heights
Of courage, faith and hope
Strength for a difficult time
A reason to show up here
A cause to pursue or a goal
To achieve, a person to love
All these easily rediscovered
By simple gestures of assent
A smile; a greeting; a wave
These irenic gestures in life
Gifts often ignored by many
You graciously bestow to me
To nudge and nurse me to life
