Simple Person Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Simple Person

Rating: 5.0

I am not that man
Who loves to be called show man?
I am simple person
Who wants to lead life with reasons

It hurts me occasionally
When people pass comment readily
“Look at that man in black shirt”
He is useless man in society and dirt

I am not aware of the hatred
What makes them to drive and be led?
With such insulting tone!
I consider such remarks as inhumane

If today I am worthless
Tomorrow there shall be shine on face
I shall be successful in town
Very much famous and well known

Even though I belong to poor family
They are leading life very happily
No one can come to our home for debt service
We pay in time and maintain our promise

Our needs are bare minimum
We lead peaceful life and keep mum
Pick no quarrel and remain calm
Is there any offence if we cause no harm?

I tried to analyze
But failed to realize
About the inner dislike and love lost game
As there was some thing else to claim

Great Amy Noborikawa19 minutes ago Love this poem. It talks of a simple man who does not pick fights, but is picked upon just because he does not appear to live up to someone else's standards. He does not understand the inner dislikes that people have. As much as he tries to figure out why, it is a game that he probably cannot win. I totally identify with this poem.
