Simple Things Poem by David Miao

Simple Things

This spot upon which I stand
Have walls which I can reach by hand
Tall dreamy spires piercing the sky
Further than a bird can fly

They blind the eye and narrow the mind
And with ambition they bind
I accept it all for that was my choice
Yet there is always a little voice

Which reminds me of the simple things
That are always more important than kings
Those that are always there to share
And those that will always care

For they are the ones which make me smile
And make this trek through life, worthwhile.
