Simple Things Poem by Barry Middleton

Simple Things

a touch of adoration
common or remote

sun dancing in ripples
a silent sailboat at rest

things I take for granted
but there is more to love

the murmur of wind
that I might easily miss

and if I listen blinded
I taste a warming kiss

and only then recall
your fiery umber eyes
