Since Cannot Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Since Cannot

Since cannot

"Indigenize or Die! "
Sounds very familiar
I have heard it a lot.

But
Not from the Indigenous
(For centuries victimized)
From Hitler and George Bush
And their likes and those similar
(Please include Reagan and Trump) .

"Indigenize or Die! "
An article I got tonight…

Concerned I study it deep
I am curious and sure must.

"Is there any difference? "

Hitler, George Bush, Arabs and Chengiz Khan
Destruction of my peace and roots…and so on.

So topic takes me to my own life
I see my ancestors displaced, on the run
Preferring wilderness and mountain-life
Not wanting to live days and nights, be Arabized
They hate "Convert", "Pay dues" as imposed
By pioneer killers, of ISIS, Taliban
They escape the order "Live under us or die! "

I see me as indigenous; my own life
I have a hilly history in Iran.

I can see, absorb and understand:
"Reclaiming cities and traditional lands…"
