Since I Began To Write, I Haven’t Written Any Rhyme. Poem by Konstantin Ananin

Since I Began To Write, I Haven’t Written Any Rhyme.

- Harry, this is my new book.
- Oh! I should take a look.
Aha! Yes! I’ve taken one
With the same title. I’ll have fun,
I’m sure. I haven’t yet
Read it, but last week I read
Two your books. They were very
Amusing.
___________- I say, Harry,
Stop! How could you read them?
I didn’t give you books then.
- I took them from Dave. I’m pleased:
A friend of mine could write these
Under a name so long
That sounds like a song!
‘Shakespeare’!
______________- Who could say
I wrote books?
______________- You, Will! Hey!
May I ask for your autograph?
- No!
______- William?
_______________- Harry, enough!
- But why?
_________- Since I began to write,
I haven’t written any rhyme.
Now I write business letters
Although these books are better.
- You said the book was yours. I thought…
- It’s not written by me but bought.
