Since You Are A Developer Poem by Francis Duggan

Since You Are A Developer

Since you are a developer why do you pretend
That to our Earth Mother you are a good friend
Since to build houses and factories your workers cut down trees
And less birds due to you to sing their melodies
That you buy land for development you do not see as wrong
But each tree cut down means one less bird of song
The intricacies of Nature you say you understand
But anyone who loves Nature does not develop land
No those who love Nature work for her without pay
In public parks they do plant trees on sunday
At the weekends they plant shrubs and trees in the parks of the town
And you pay your workers to cut mature trees down
As for you when you say you are a friend of Nature you do not seem to realize
That you are one who do believe your own lies.
