Sing Free Poem by chris schwartz

Sing Free

Rating: 5.0

Write a poem
'Bout the day we met
Nerves shattered
Smiles climb
From the basement
Of the new foundation
And shine freely
Upon stained glass.

The sun beams
Through crevices
Sealed tight
With the doubt
Of yesterday's failure
Leave marked shadows
On the wall
Of all that's meant to last.

Sing free
In a thunderstorm
Play loud
With no regret

Yet the sounds cry out
In the sky
With the noise
Of each passing jet.

Hold close
The long memory
Of a timeclock
Punched short
By the reality
Of what it is.

Sing free
In a thunderstorm
Play loud
With no regret

The piano man
Plays songs for you
Makes it all go away
Makes it all seem surreal.
The tears of tonight
Mixed with yesterday's smiles
Leave a strange mix
Of subtle sweet cocktails

Sing free
In a thunderstorm
Play loud
With no regret

And you know
The deep touch of yesterday
Will once more
Sing you to sleep,
Cause you believe
That everything
That was yours
Belongs
To someone else.
