Sing To Me Your Love Songs Again, Dear Poem by Jane Quijano

Sing To Me Your Love Songs Again, Dear

Rating: 5.0

A lost poem I made years ago. I tried to do it again with the same title. Youth has its flavor but aged is golden. - Jane

Sing to me your love songs again, dear
When the moon was bright and full
And the stars were blinking in the sky;
And the air that surrounds us was cool.

Come take your guitar and play
And look at me, the way you used to do,
And sing to me that melodious song
That broke the silence of the dawn.

It was 7th of april half a century gone
You were so young and I was seven and ten.
Your voice was as cool as the mountain air
I just wanted to stay in bed and listen.

Sing to me your love songs again
In every nook and places we have been
Under the pine trees on a mountain range
Or in the seashore while the sun was setting.

And we walked into the lane where you lived
Into the shadows of the pointed barbwire.
The darkened path was engulfing as we left
To go home to a cottage near the creek.

Play to me your guitar again, dear
In that corner where we used to sit
The bright moon and the stars were blinking
And our eyes were locked while you sing.

Your eyes were beaming with the glow
Of love, and my heart was beating fast;
For in every beat and lilt of your voice
I felt our souls dancing as one.

It was pure, it was simple, we loved gently.
But how the night of calm and beauty
Was like a greek tragedy that beckoned-
Ill-fated, as the song begun in that early morn.

Sing to me your love songs again, dear,
When the world was filled with the moonlight,
I will hear you while i sit in the shadows
Waiting for the calmness of the night.
