Sister's Necklace Poem by Pete Rivera

Sister's Necklace

Will you shatter my defenses
With yet another mistake
For this gun shall go off
And my soul you shall take
But if my demons so choose
To steal back all which they make
Then all blame put on me
If I would not fight for my own sake

And the tears stream down
The face of the mourning
The tears stream down
The faces of the discerning

Little sister, will you approach
And receive what is rightfully yours
A necklace found buried
Beneath the icy shores
And I know not of his return
'Less there be something more
But I cannot confess
What I found behind this door

And the tears stream down
Oh, yes, they do
Clear waters will rise
And take me to you
And the tears stream down
The face of the mourning
The tears stream down
The faces of the discerning

Oh, what a shame
What a shame
My life will never be the same
Oh, what a shame
What a shame
My life will never be the same

Crying out
For another chance
I'll correct my faults
As the demons take stance
I fear not what they do
Or the evil they enhance
I will continue on and on
Till blood covers my lance

And the tears stream down
The tears stream down
Oh, the tears stream down
Yes, they do
They stream down
Oh, they stream down
The faces of the mourning
And the tears stream down
The faces of the discerning

And I will live
I will live
I will live
And fight for this right
I will live
I will live
And fight for this right
